Principal's Message

Grissom Elementary

Welcome to Grissom Elementary School, home of the Astros!

We serve approximately 530 students preschool through fifth grade. High expectations for all students and staff have been established, and our goal is to create a strong partnership between teachers, staff, students, and families. Working together, we are building a strong foundation where learning will occur.

Grissom has a wide range of educational programs, with five special education classrooms, a preschool classroom, and eighteen general education classrooms. At Grissom, we promote inclusion, acceptance, and kindness for all students.

We promote and acknowledge the great things we see Grissom Astros doing daily by using Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This framework helps our students work to be the best they can be. We always expect our students to be responsible, respectful, and safe!

We also implement and use 8-Steps for Improvement along with Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) testing to ensure that we are meeting the academic needs of ALL Grissom Astros.

Grissom is thankful for the outstanding community partners who work with our students and families. Glad Tidings Church, Ball State University, Meridian Health Services, and Center Stone Counseling work tirelessly to provide support to our students and their families. Our partnerships help to mold students who are positive, productive members of society.

At Grissom, you will find that we are proud of all that our students, staff, families, and community are doing to make this a special school. Exciting things are happening at Grissom, and we hope you will join us on our journey as we blast off for another great school year!

Educationally yours,

Brittney Charles
